Los Angeles & San Diego Trip PART I

I went to LA and SD for 3 days during x’mas. it was fun. I will like to share about what I ate.

Phoenix Food Boutique

500 N Atlantic Blvd
Monterey Park, CA 91754

(626) 458-9988

I believe this restaurant is franchise. I saw at least 3-5 phoenix restaurant in LA. I usually go to this place because there is a arcade and dolls machine store next to it.
Their food is not super great! the reason i like this place because you can get almost everything you want here. it is a good place to go with friends and family because they have dessert, herbal drink, milk tea, juice, many different kind of Chinese food, snack, and even bakery.
Their food is not bad. fast and hot! but some of them are little bit too salty.  price is decent. good for group, family, snack, and late dinner. ^_^

Purple Kow @ San Francisco

3620 Balboa St
(between 37th Ave & 38th Ave)
San Francisco, CA 94121
Neighborhood: Outer Richmond

(415) 387-9009

Hours:Mon-Thu, Sun 11 am – 10 pm

Fri-Sat 11 am – 12 am

It is small store next to a restaurant.  The decoration is pretty warm which i like it.

It is a young coconut with coconut pudding which cost $5.99 before tax. it is pretty good, but i don’t think one person can finish it all because it is kinda too heavy for me.

their menu is simple and nice in both english and chinese. price is cheap because the drink is bigger than regular milk tea cups.

i ordered their oolong tea and the grape fruit tea which they said it is made by real tea and real fruit. I love it so much…because they don’t put too much sugar inside the drink. many pearl tea place like to add a lot of sugar to make the drink taste good. when i drink the grape fruit drink, you can eat and taste the real fruit inside with the real fresh fruit meat.

Curry fish ball. it is a popular snack from HK. YUMMY~

I love this place because not many great milk tea places in SF with great quality. the only problem is this place takes too long to make a drink. if you want to buy a drink, it might take you like 15 to 30 mins wait which is tooooo long! i wish they can fix this problem ASAP.

Wicked Spoon Brunch Buffet & Secret Pizza@ Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV 89109

Wicked Spoon Brunch Buffet

Hours:

Mon-Fri 8 am – 2 pm

Mon-Thu, Sun 5 pm – 9 pm

Fri-Sat 5 pm – 10 pm

Sat-Sun 8 am – 3 pm

Price: $22/person

Most of people know the buffets at Las Vegas are popular. Usually people will say the buffet at Bellagio and Wynn are the best.  I tried the Wynn and Bellagio dinner buffet which cost around $30-36 per person, but I felt like they are just OKAY.  It is little bit over price to me. My friend said Bellagio Buffet used to be very good, but not anymore. Only thing I like about Wynn buffet is their dessert and the restaurant design and decoration. they tried to make the place look very grand and high class, but the foods were just nothing surprise me. The sushi at Bellagio was worst. only few choices and looks like they made by a kid.

BUT the Wicked Spoon Brunch Buffet make me feel so satisfy. the price is only $22 per person. The brunch buffet from 8am to 2pm. It is inside of Cosmopolitan hotel and it is little far away from the casino and main restaurants.

I have to admitted this is a very nice place. it makes you feel happy and cozy.

I love their cocktail shrimp…. size is big and fresh!

beef taco

green curry clam

I love the way they present their food. they like to put the food into small container which is perfect fit to one person, and it won’t make the mess. it is just brunch, but they have shrimp, clam, and a lot of fish. they have a lot of fruits, food, breakfast, meat, and DESSERT~

Gelato

their dessert totally make me melt~ soooooo cute and nice! i was kinda disappointing at bellagio and wynn buffets, but cosmopolitan buffet totally make me feel surprise! haha… (by the way, i never get any benefit by saying all these.)

if you go to las vegas and you want to have some buffet, don’t miss this one =)

want some tea eggs? so easy~

Tea egg is a typical Chinese savory snack commonly sold by street vendors or in night markets in most Chinese communities throughout the world.

it is not that hard to make, but it takes few days to let the taste go into the egg~

1. get the ingredients from Chinese super market. I think most of them carry this, but just not same brand.

It has instruction on the back, but in Chinese

2. there are two set ingredients, one set is good for 20-30 eggs.

3. Cook the eggs with one set of ingredient together. the water should be cover all eggs. Remember add Salt and 3-5 Tsp Soy sauce to make it more tasty.

4. Boil the egg for 20 mins and make sure they are all cooked. Then, use spoon to crack the egg shell, but dun break the egg.

5. just soak the eggs in the sauce for 1-2 days, then it should be good to go. if you want more tasty, boil the egg everyday and let it soak for 3-4 days.

6. Enjoy the Chinese Tea EGG~

This restaurant locate at downtown Palo Alto, CA. the great thing is they open till 1am!!!

I really like its decoration and the building structure. it is like the old history restaurant and motel that we see in the chinese movie.  but actually it is a restaurant that serve Cajun food. =)

I don’t understand what is that for and why it relates to the restaurant, but i think it is pretty interesting!

The menu is simple and no picture~ but you can tell what is that by reading the description. price is okay and acceptable. =)

This drink call Hurricane. You can choose the one with alcohol or non-alcohol. it taste pretty good…

These are the appetizers we ordered. I love that taco a lot!

This is what i order. it has shrimp, craw fish, scallop, etc with rice! it was not too spicy, so taste pretty good.

Most of my friends ordered the skirt steak. i think this is the famous entree of Nola. It is good!!! the steak is very tasty =)

When I tell people that I want to eat some vegetarian food, they usually will look at me with the weird feeling. that’s nth wrong to be a vegetarian. I am not a vegetarian, but I do respect vegetarians. people always have a wrong concept about Vegan food. They think Vegan foods are boring and no taste, but that’s totally wrong! Once awhile i love to eat at the vegetariant restaurant. This time, I found one in San Francisco~

I was the 1st customer on Saturday. It is a very nice place. So clean and organize. =)

Two of us ordered a lunch combination, noodle soup, and sushi. price is pretty decent~ both of us were very full and feel healthy =) all the staffs there are nice and friendly.
